Motivation of CiliateBase

Ciliates, as ancient and remarkably diverse unicellular eukaryotes, are pivotal model organisms for research in ecology, evolutionary biology, and epigenetics. The rapid advancement of sequencing technologies has generated an increasing amount of ciliate omics data from functional genomics experiments in key models like Tetrahymena thermophila, Paramecium tetraurelia, and Oxytricha trifallax, to diverse omics profiles across numerous other ciliate species. However, these numerous data are often scattered, difficult to access, and lacks integrated analysis tools. Researchers need a centralized platform to effectively explore gene function, regulatory networks, and evolutionary insights across this important group.
Therefore, we have established a comprehensive functional genomics database, called CiliateBase, to integrate diverse datasets, including RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, MNase-seq, RIP-seq, from multiple species. CiliateBase provides: 1) unified access: easily search and retrieve functional genomics data; 2) integrated analysis: utilize built-in tools for gene expression profiling, Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment, and KEGG pathway analysis; 3) visualization power: gain insights through intuitive data visualization; 4) data accessibility: easily download raw data and processed results to fuel your research.
CiliateBase empowers the scientific community by providing a user-friendly, powerful, and centralized resource, significantly accelerating functional genomics research and discovery in ciliates.
